Well it seems to me that the response has been highly mixed. Some champion a new piece of hardware that sits in between a phone and a laptop. Others believe it to be an anti-climax headlined by its lack of key features (camera, flash support, wireless syncing etc).

Which brings me to film. As I said previously, right now this is just another platform to view film, TV and listen to music. It reminds of a desk I saw in The Island. Some of you might not remember this film, because it was an intelligent Michael Bay film that didn’t involve giant robots beating each other up. I believe that the villain in The Island had a desk with projections, and he even had Ewan McGregor draw on it with a virtual stylus. You know that desks like this will be in offices of the future, unless the companies can afford a Surface.

The iPad has a near life-sized touch keyboard and supports Web browsing. It comes with a built-in calendar and address book, Jobs said, calling it “awesome.”

Despite the buzz surrounding the launch and Apple’s storied golden touch on consumer electronics, the tablet is not necessarily an easy sell, analysts say.

Consumer appetite for such a device category has yet to be proven, though plenty of devices such as Amazon.com’s Kindle e-reader are vying for that market.

Shares of Apple have generally risen ahead of Wednesday’s event. The stock slid rose 0.5 percent to $206.92 at mid-afternoon, within reach of its all-time high of $215.59 logged on January 5.

As iPod sales wane, Apple is looking for another growth engine and hopes to find one in the tablet. But the move is not without risk. Consumers have never warmed to tablet computers, despite many previous attempts by other companies.

In an online poll on reuters.com, 37 percent of more than 1,000 respondents said they would pay $500-$699 for the tablet. Nearly 30 percent weren’t interested, while 20 percent said they would pay $700-$899.

Analysts’ sales predictions for the tablet vary widely, with many believing Apple can sell 2 million to 5 million units in the first year.

After a couple of keystrokes my fingers are already accustomed to it. For the touchpad, I do not have a problem with it.

Build and Design

The design is quite similar to other mini notebooks we’ve seen. The exterior is covered in glossy plastics with smooth lines, rounded edges, and a style that looks like it’s trying to strike a balance between “fun” and “functional.” The look is pretty basic, almost like a miniature version of the Inspiron 1525 notebook. Glossy plastic is found on the top of the screen cover as well as around the entire LCD and palm rests. Matte black plastic is used on the base of the netbook and on the keyboard. Overall, the look is quite nice, but the glossy LCD lid is a magnet for fingerprints and makes the new netbook look a little tarnished after just a few minutes of use.

The Display

You will really love the display of this mini notebook. The glossy LED backlit display is nice and vibrant with rich colors and good contrast. But there is still a problem with it when you are outdoor. But who cares?
