Safari Browser

Nowadays, we are overwhelmed with a lot of social networking sites. Everyone, young and old are flocking into the internet to get a glimpse of what’s new and what’s hot. At the height of this drama, not all of us are aware of the stage. We are so engrossed with the “presentation” that we did not notice it.

At the advent of this social networking sites, browsers have been polished to deliver at its best. Web browsers now act as a multi-function tool for watching movies, chatting and listening to music. Browsers are more and more complicated and sophisticated than they were before. Almost everyday we will get updates and fresh add-on.

Just last week I downloaded Safari 4.0.3 because I have heard from everywhere that it is fast and has a sleek design. Although I have seen Safari working under Mac, I never get a chance to check it out more thoroughly.

What I like in Safari

  • Design. It is obvious that with Mac, design can never go wrong.
  • Bookmarking. I like how they put the “show top sites” feature. Very neat.
  • A bit faster than other browsers. Mozilla has a problem with its latest version and IE is really slow.
  • Support for web standards for HTML, CSS and Javascript. So far I have no problem opening websites unlike IE.

Resemblance to other browsers

Chrome. When I use the Safari, I said to myself “oh its like chrome”. The menus for controls and settings are found on the right side. Chrome also has the top sites displayed on the body of the browser but not as pretty as safari’s. Textareas can also be resized just like Chrome.

Disadvantage

For designers and web developers, I guess they will not like it that much because unlike Mozilla, it does not support 3rd party add-ons. Although you can do that by tweaking the system, you might end up crashing the browser.

For me, I will still love to keep my Mozilla and use Safari in parallel for a while until I will find out if Safari is really a good choice. I will give Safari a rate of 3/5.
